Each piece is an artwork, 100% handmade in California, United States (unless I am traveling with my work on hand). It is almost unique and custom-built for the recipient or the occasion.
Besides this, there are multiple components contributing to the price of a completed cross stitch product. The main factor is time. Every project has its unique complexity caused by the detail of the pattern, size, number of colors, stitch types, the fabric used, etc., and the combination of all these determines the hours that I need to devote to the project. The product pages in the shop give the duration of the work that I previously completed and I would suggest you take a look.
Apart from time, other direct costs are the price of the pattern, floss, and fabric, and together with indirect costs, the price of the piece is determined. There is really no profit in this equation, as I am seeking to cover some portion of the cost from the work that I am passionate about.
The shop on the site contains pieces that were previously completed. Some of them are available and ready for shipment and some are already sold, thus not left on hand. If you like to purchase a piece that is no longer available, you can put a backorder. In this case, I will contact you and we will sign an agreement specifying the piece, price, delivery date, and payment terms. Typically, I expect to be paid 40% at the order and 60% at the completion, before the shipment.
This would be another type of Make to Order.
In this case, you would brief me about the piece that you envisage or provide me with the pattern or sometimes picture you have on hand (Please see possible sources of patterns at the end of the FAQ section). Once we find the pattern, I will estimate the duration depending on the complexity and my backlog, along with the materials cost including pattern, floss, fabric, etc. I will send you a proposal which will be the basis of our agreement should you wish to proceed. The agreement will include the piece, price, delivery date, and payment terms. Typically, I expect to be paid 40% at the order and 60% at the completion, before the shipment.
It will depend on when you change your mind.
If you change it before I purchase the pattern and materials, then I can give you a full refund.
If you change it after I purchase these but before the work commences, I will refund you the downpayment minus the direct costs incurred.
If you change it after the work commences, I will not be able to refund your downpayment.
I will be regularly sending you information and photos showing progress during the project.
The pieces that are marked as framed in the shop can be shipped with or without their frames. Should you choose to buy these with their frames, I will not charge extra for them.
Unfortunately, I will not be able to accommodate any specific framing requests for the unframed pieces.
You will receive an email order confirmation upon placing your order and a shipping notification including a tracking number once we've shipped it. You can use the tracking number to check its status. Tracking information typically takes 48 hours to be available.
If you would like to take a closer look before placing an order, please let me know, I will do my best to enable you to view the piece in detail remotely.
The sales are final and I am unable to accommodate returns or refund requests, except in certain conditions for Make to Orders, i.e.
If you change your mind before I purchase the pattern and materials, then I can give you a full refund.
If you change it after I purchase these but before the work commences, I will refund you the downpayment minus the direct costs incurred.
If you change it after the work commences, I will not be able to refund your downpayment.
On the other hand if, in the unlikely event that I need to cancel a Make to Order Agreement due to forces beyond my control (such as serious illness), I will seek possible and mutually acceptable solutions, including a full refund regardless of the stage of the work.

There are also a lot of designers on marketplaces like Etsy that you can take a look.
Please bear in mind that the more complex the pattern is, the more time and materials it will require and more expensive it will be.
You can also look for Cross stitch kits (instead of patterns) on amazon or retailers (such as Michaels). Cross stitch kits will include patterns, fabric, and threads.
I prefer to work with the Pattern Keeper application and it would be ideal if the pattern is compatible with it.
